Alpine Skiing

Wakefield, Quebec is home to three different alpine ski resorts located minutes from the village. Visitors can hit the slopes at Vorlage, Edelweiss or Mont Cascades. Those willing to travel a little further can take advantage the slopes of Mont Ste-Marie.  Fifteen minutes south of Wakefield, alpine enthusiasts will also find Camp Fortune. All of these hills are family friendly and offer a variety of terrain options.

The village of Wakefield is located on the edge of one of the largest networks of cross-country ski trails in North America. You will find over 50 trails in the Gatineau Park, varying in difficulty (rated from easy to most difficult). Enjoy classic cross-country skiing and skate skiing in a beautiful conservation area, located just minutes from the village. Cross-country ski rentals are available at Expéditions Wakefield.

Experience winter’s newest sport- fat biking! New for the winter of 2015-2016, the Gatineau Park has announced a pilot project that allows for Fat Biking in the Gatineau Park. A select number of a winter trails have been allocated for Fat Biking in the Gatineau Park.  Fat Bikes are available for rent at Expéditions Wakefield. A variety of adult sizes are available.

Extend your outdoor adventure season by winter camping! In the Gatineau Park, campers can choose from four-season tents, yurts, cabins or winter campsites, and enjoy an overnight stay in the great outdoors, just minutes from the village of Wakefield. The winter camping season runs from November 15- April 15 and it is recommended you book early in order to reserve your site. Cabins and yurts fill up months in advance so book soon!
