Katie Moore is an uncompromising songstress whose haunting music defies quick categorization; it lies somewhere in the no-man’s-land between folk, soul, R&B, and Americana. Built around a persuasive simplicity, each song is anchored by her voice. “I often get asked how long I have been singing for, and I don’t know how to answer that,” says Katie. “How long have you been breathing? It’s just a natural thing I do. I love it.” That much is obvious— enchanting, earthy, pure, real, open; these are some of its descriptors.
Long one of the Canadian scene’s most revered songwriters, across almost 25 years, working under his own name and the past alias Snailhouse, Feuerstack has built an underground canon of crooked and beautiful songs. A little Rilke and a little Bazooka Joe, these easygoing tunes are like fields full of hedge-mazes – teeming with riddles, reveries and hiding places.
Feuerstack’s reputation is also as a solid gold collaborator: playing guitar and lap steel, producing records, cracking wise. He is a member of Wooden Stars, Bell Orchestre and the Luyas and has toured the world with acts like Land of Talk, Bry Webb and the Acorn.
Newfoundland singer-songwriter Brianna Gosse’s debut recording AERA has been turning hearts and ears since it’s release in the summer of 2014. Masterfully produced by Chris Kirby and with solid backing by the Marquee and the Horns of Justice, AERA makes its home in the realm of soulful jazz-pop while stepping out into shades of reggae and rock.
